Jammu Kashmir government Thursday ordered verification of all appointments made under the sports category in the past 19 years.
According to an order, the government has constituted a three-member committee to verify all appointments made under the sports category in different departments since 2000.
The committee would be headed by Administrative Secretary, Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs.
The other two members would include Secretary Sports Council and Additional Secretary (Vigilance) General Administration Department.
Earlier, the government had put restrictions on recruitment in public sector undertakings and autonomous bodies.
The government had constituted several fact-finding committees to look into irregularities in appointments in J&K Sports Council.
As per the sports policy of Jammu Kashmir, the government would provide annual recruitment of 100 sportspersons per calendar year who represent India in international competitions or earn medals in senior national-level championships.
“Medal winners in recognised national championships or equivalent at senior level or participants of international competitions in recognised disciplines will be given jobs as per academic and technical qualification in the disciplines recognised by the J&K State Sports Council,” the policy reads.
A committee comprising Chief Secretary, Administrative Secretaries of Home, GAD, Youth Services and Sports, and Secretary J&K State Sports Council would be the members for recommending jobs to outstanding sportspersons in different government services.
The committee, which will be serviced by the General Administration Department, has been directed to submit its report by March 31, 2020.
