EDI encounter; ‘Fauj hamari dushman hai, niklo aap loag’

Twenty three people most of them staffers are trapped inside the main building of Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), Pampore where encounter between militants and government forces started at 4. 20 PM on Saturday.

95 people including JKEDI staff and trainees from different districts of Kashmir division are trapped in the hostel building of the institute.

Three heavily armed militants attacked a CRPF armoured vehicle stationed outside the institute and sneaked inside the JKEDI main building.

"There was panic inside the main building. I saw them and they asked us to leave the building as soon as possible. They said we have no animosity with you people. Fauj hamari dushman hai, niklo aap loag," one of the trapped civilians told Rising Kashmir over phone.

He said 23 people were still inside the main building on top floor.

There are five big and small buildings in JKEDI campus including a guest house and an eight storey guest house.

Police started evacuation operation at 5.50 PM when this report was filed while the firing was on.
