Chaos in Kashmir

People in Valley are in an extreme state of confusion and chaos. Rumours about scrapping of Article 370 and Article 35A have been doing rounds across Kashmir. People have started gossiping about the intentions of the government. Everyone is trying to seek answers. The speculations have caused a fear and distress among the people of the Valley. Amidst the panic and the eruptive situation, the government issued an advisory on Friday, asking Amarnath pilgrims and tourists to curtail their stay and return as soon as possible. Following the advisory tourists, pilgrims and even students from outside the state started evacuating the Valley. This unprecedented move has left everyone high and dry. Within hours of the order situation in the Valley became intense, and people in the valley became suspicious of the authorities' behavior. Hundreds of people started rushing towards commercial places to stock fuel, food and other essentials. Like every other Kashmiri my nerves are constantly on edge and thousands of questions are running through my mind. People here don't believe news anymore. Nobody in the Valley knows what will happen in the next few days. Here rumors follow news and news follows rumours. So, it is the responsibility of the authorities to come to the fore and show some responsibility. In order to curb the unrest they need to bring some clarity to the obscure environment, which is prevailing in the valley for the past few days.
