Another minor girl raped in Ganderbal

A minor girl was raped by a youth at Harran area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
A police official said on Sunday, a family in Ganderbal complained to police that their 16-year-old daughter was raped by a youth.
He said the accused identified as 20-year-old Mohammad Asif Wani son of Mohammad Maqbool Wani of New Colony Harran was arrested.
The official said police has registered a case and taken up investigation.
The mother of the girl said she had gone to their relative’s house on the day for some work and her daughter was alone at home.
“The accused raped my daughter and escaped from the spot after threatening her of dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anyone,” she alleged.
When the family members of the girl returned home, the girl narrated the incident to them and they lodged a complaint against the accused.
The victim girl said the accused found her alone at home and forcibly raped me. “He later threatened me of dire consequences if revealed the incident to anybody”.
“Justice should be delivered to be and the rapist should be hanged,” she said.
SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal told Rising Kashmir that on Sunday they received a complaint from a family that their daughter was allegedly raped by a youth.
“We immediately arrested the accused,” he said.
Poswal said medical examination of the girl was conducted and the report is awaited.
“Further investigation is going on,” he said.
Police has registered a case under FIR no 98/2019 under RPC 376, 451 RPC Sec-4 and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO)
People of the area strongly condemned the act and demanded stern punishment to the culprit.
